McKayla R. Robinette grew up on a century farm in eastern North Carolina, where she continues to raise grass-fed beef cattle and manages a USDA slaughter and processing facility alongside her grandparents, parents, and brother. Her childhood was filled with 4-H and FFA events, dirt roads, and everything else that comes with farm life. In 2020, McKayla graduated from Brevard College with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Sustainable Agriculture and Pre-Law. She graduated with distinction from Auburn University in 2022 with a Master of Science in Rural Sociology. In 2023, she began a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration at Walden University.
McKayla now works as the Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network - NC Resource Specialist at the NC Agromedicine Institute, which provides health, safety, and crisis prevention intervention and resources to agricultural workers and their families.
